What is iSteadi?

Picture
iSteadi is a project about a complement hardware for iPhone 4 & 4S*, that, if funded, would transform a standard iPhone into a Steadicam for semi-professional filming (What is a Steadicam?).

If you are an iPhone user and you use it to capture nice videos of your memories, iSteadi would thoroughly improve them!
Read ahead and see how...

* Update 5 october: the case will be compatible with some of the most popular cell phones. Upcoming list. Use the contact form to know more about it.

NOTE: Presently iSteadi is just a 'concept' product. We made prototipes and made extensive testing, but we lack the necessary funds to produce the plastic moulds to complete the project. If you feel like helping us make iSteadi real, scroll down and join our backers in Kickstarter.

Why should I need iSteadi?

Because if you use it on your iPhone you will take advantage of the following features:

- less vibrations due to movements and shifts of the camera during filming;

- lateral filming such as 'rail camera'  with reduction of lateral swinging and 'rolling shutter' effect reduction;

- friction for 'roll over' filming from horizontal to vertical with no need to modify the grip on iSteadi;

- stable and comfortable hilt, that prevents accidental interferences with the microphone and the lens as well as accidental falls;

- Universal Kit to adapt iSteadi onto virtually any mobile phone;

- Customization of the counterwight to adapt the camera to different environment conditions ( i.e. different user ability, wind etc.);

- small size; light weight.

IF YOU PLEDGE $59, YOU'LL RECEIVE YOUR OWN iSteadi!

Who's working on the iSteadi project?

Marco Zangirolam
i:
Former researcher for the National Metrological Institute (INRIM) and former participant of the Italian Antartic Campaigns (PNRA) he's the 'inventor' of iSteadi. He came to the idea of developing this gimmik during a chat with a friend who is a video director...

Simone Leonard Banchio:
Degree in Electronics, he's an amateur photografer and video maker.
He is the tester of the first prototype, as well as the maker of our video presentation on the next page.
Beside that he has worked side-by-side with Marco to set the feature specifications of the product.

Salvatore Guerra:
Born in Italy, moved to the States as a young fella, he's an artist and more specifically a violinist. However he's recently discovered  a new hobby: industrial design, which is exactly what brought him into the project.
